Providing our participants with engaging activities each day is one of the most important things we do. Our participants love the many activities planned each day by Amanda Yanni, our Activities Manager, and it shows in their smiles. At the end of each week, Amanda posts the top things our participants did throughout the week on this page. We hope you enjoy reading her weekly update as much as we do!
For a snapshot of all the upcoming activities this month at Our PLACE, you can view our Calendar of Activities here, and also read the Inside Our PLACE! newsletter. And you can read an enlightening spotlight profile of one of our participants.
"Looks like all the usual suspects are here!" — Frank
It’s amazing to watch the friendships that flourish within our walls. At Our PLACE, we aren't just passing the time; we are building bonds that grow stronger with every passing day. We laugh together, support one another through the harder moments, and constantly create more moments of joy. We’ve become "partners in crime"—as Edith loves to say, "what happens at Our PLACE, stays at Our PLACE!" There is a deep sense of family here. We open our hearts and truly get to know the people around us. In fact, we are so tight-knit that if a chair is empty for a day, everyone feels it. You aren’t just a participant here; you are a vital part of our circle, and you are missed when you’re away. Here is a peek at a few of our favorite moments from this week.
When it’s too frosty to enjoy the backyard, we bring the movement indoors with a few rounds of bowling. There’s nothing like a little friendly competition to get everyone laughing! We spent the afternoon cheering each other on and playfully teasing—if you knocked down more than one pin, you were sure to hear a chorus of "You’re showing out!" A huge congratulations to our weekly winner, who claimed the only strike of the day!
While we watched the bright red cardinals flitting around our feeders outside, we decided to bring that pop of color indoors. We crafted beautiful cardinal table decorations, using pretty buttons to give each stand its own unique personality. It was a wonderful way to practice our dexterity while creating a bit of nature’s beauty to enjoy on our tables all year long.
Is there anything better for the soul than a visit from a furry friend? We were treated to an impromptu visit from Bear and Roxy this week. From Roxy’s gentle 12-year-old wisdom to Bear’s 2-year-old puppy energy, they were the perfect guests. We loved showering them with "scritches" and treats while hearing all about their favorite things.
We love it when our families and friends share the fun things they find with us! After someone shared a video of a hilarious game they saw, we knew we had to try it for ourselves. We rolled out 'Granny Pants' this week, and the room was absolutely echoing with laughter! It was a huge hit, and we’re already counting down the days until we can play it again.
Wishing you a weekend filled with warmth and rest. Whether the snow finally arrives or not, we hope your days are just as bright as the smiles we shared this week. See you next week...
Amanda Yanni
