Providing our participants with engaging activities each day is one of the most important things we do. Our participants love the many activities planned each day by Amanda Yanni, our Activities Manager, and it shows in their smiles. The Top Things at Our PLACE This Week – from Amanda

We truly are so fortunate to be here each day, creating more moments of joy together! The holiday spirit has officially landed at Our PLACE, and we've been busy elves kicking off the most wonderful time of the year with warmth, laughter, and a touch of friendly competition. Take a peek at a few of our favorite moments from this fantastic week!

The Top Things This Week:

We were absolutely blessed to host our annual Christmas Brunch! Seeing all our wonderful participants, their families, dedicated volunteers, and staff gathered together filled our hearts with joy. A huge, heartfelt thank you goes out to our incredible community partners—Home Instead, Caris Healthcare, Amedisys Home Health Athens, and Morning Pointe Lenoir City—for sponsoring such a beautiful and delicious spread! As if the food wasn't sweet enough, we were serenaded by the lovely sounds of the Kahite Sweeties and the Ukulele Orchestra. It truly was an incredible start to our holiday season!
Now that December is here, it was time to transform our space! We didn't settle for one; we now have two gorgeous Christmas trees standing tall and sparkling in the activity room! Putting them up was quite the group effort—there was a lot of fluffing, debating about the "perfect" spot for each ornament, and a million great ideas flying around! But once we stepped back, everyone agreed: they are absolutely perfect. They are already captivating everyone's attention!
This year, we're making our own Christmas cards, and they are turning out beautifully! We diligently worked on creating adorable button snowmen and elegant poinsettia cards. The poinsettia cards were a definite hit, sparking wonderful memories of past holidays and traditions. We simply can't wait to share our beautiful creations with loved ones!
We took a well-deserved break from our pre-holiday creative endeavors to test out some fun new table games! We rotated through air hockey, pool, and 'shoot the duck,' but the champion of the week was undeniably Air Hockey! The cheering, the laughing, and the sheer delight as the puck zipped across the table made for an afternoon of pure fun. We had such a blast, the games kept going right up until it was time to head home!
