This Week @ Our PLACE
Sharing the Fun with You!
Providing our participants with engaging activities each day is one of the most important things we do. Our participants love the many activities planned each day by Amanda Yanni, our Activities Manager, and it shows in their smiles. At the end of each week, Amanda posts the top things our participants did throughout the week on this page. We hope you enjoy reading her weekly update as much as we do!
The Top Things at Our PLACE This Week – from Amanda
“Winter, a lingering season, is a time to gather golden moments, embark upon a sentimental journey, and enjoy every idle hour.” – John Boswell
We didn't have very much idle time this week, but had many golden moments indeed! We had days full of pool noodle exercise, a video taping to make us all famous, lots of singing, a shortbread cookie tasting, silly games, and a few wintery crafts. While there may have been flurries of snow outside, we were warm as could be inside, creating more moments of joy. So, grab a blanket, maybe some hot cocoa, and get cozy as you read about a few of the moments of joy we've had this week.
The Top Things This Week:
When it's too cold to go outside, we make the most out of playing indoors! Who knew a little indoor bowling was just what we needed to bring on some laughs and a little friendly competition?! We have some tremendous bowlers in our group. Some of them were knocking pins down left and right; there were even a few spares before the game was over!
One of the best snacks on a cold winter day is homemade pizza. There's just something about this deliciously cheesy comfort food that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Plus, everyone really enjoys rolling out the dough and will even compete to see who makes the biggest round! This week everyone kept it traditional and made either just cheese or pepperoni pizza.
We are so lucky to have Rick come visit us with his beautiful guitar. He keeps us all singing and dancing in our seats with his selection of classic rock songs. Everyone says he can "play a mean guitar" but this week he surprised us when he brought a special guest up to show off her skills too! It was a great performance!
For Law Enforcement Appreciation Day we worked hard on little tokens of thanks for our friends at the Loudon County Sheriff's Department. Then we asked them to "pop by" and showed our appreciation by enjoying coffee, cocoa, donuts, and many laughs! Little known fact- cops don't love donuts as much as we think, but they all love black snickers coffee! We're so glad y'all could visit, and thank you so much for all you do!
Praying you stay warm and have a few of your own moments of joy this weekend!
Amanda Yanni
