Providing our participants with engaging activities each day is one of the most important things we do. Our participants love the many activities planned each day by Jennifer Wallis, our Activities Manager, and it shows in their smiles. At the end of each week, Jennifer posts the top things our participants did throughout the week on this page. We hope you enjoy reading her weekly update as much as we do!
For a snapshot of all the upcoming activities this month at Our PLACE, you can view our Calendar of Activities here, and also read the Inside Our PLACE! newsletter. And you can read an enlightening spotlight profile of one of our participants.
This week, we were honored to celebrate a very special veteran and Our PLACE Participant turning 93 years young! Birthdays inspire us to reflect and remember all the wonderful things we have encountered on our journeys around the sun. David was described by fellow Participants as "dedicated", "amazing", and "delightful" and we couldn't agree more!
In honor of National Service Dog month, participants created hand-written Thank You cards this week to express their appreciation for our fur friends and their owners! Participants will continue to make cards throughout the month to express their gratitude. We are forever grateful for the opportunity to provide pet therapy to our participants and cannot thank our pet volunteers enough!
Participants enjoyed musical performances by Our PLACE regulars, Rick and Steve. We are so thankful to both Rick and Steve for consistency sharing their gifts and talents with our Participants, spurring joy with their voices and guitars.
We began this week's sing-a-long with stretching before practicing familiar songs with enlarged lyric sheets. Singing together in groups promotes emotional well-being and social interaction. Singing also boosts our physical health by improving respiration.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Jennifer Wallis
