The Top Things at Our PLACE This Week – from Jennifer

The Top Things This Week:

• This week, participants were invited to express their creativity with Rhythm and Color! Participants colored while drum beats filled the background, encouraging us to focus and experience calm. Some of our participants began drumming along with their colored pencils while others worked hard at blending and choosing colors. We would like to thank our volunteer Gayle for helping out and making this activity a success! We look forward to hosting Rhythm and Color again later this month.  

• Sing-alongs are a powerful and joyful way to connect and recall memories from our youth. We love to sing with our participants each and every week and are thankful for the opportunity to spark long-term memories while creating a shared human experience together. We are always grateful to our musical guests and music therapists for devoting their time and sharing their talents with us. Huge thanks to Ingrid, Judy, and Steve for all that you do at Our PLACE!

• Participants rose to the challenge this week with a variety of Left/Right activities. Asymmetrical movements and performing two tasks at the same time, improve cognition and offer neurological benefits with opposing motor patterns. Participants enjoyed Left/Right Center and listened to a special story about being "Right on Time" while passing chips to the Left or the Right. We can't thank our volunteers Pat and Sandy enough for helping out!
